SoundVerdict exists for one reason: to tell you if a piece of audio gear is worth your money. We don't do vague vibes reviews. We run a repeatable process, show our work, and call out compromises.

Every product goes through the same pipeline so comparisons are meaningful. If two models land at different scores, it's because the data, the listening, and the usability checks pointed the same direction.

Measurements keep us honest; listening keeps us human. If a chart looks great but the experience is annoying, that's a real defect—and it shows up in the verdict.

We verify factual claims by checking primary documentation and reputable sources using a search-augmented workflow to ensure accuracy.

Process

Our test workflow

Same steps, same order, no exceptions—so you can trust A/B comparisons across brands, prices, and form factors.

  1. Check basics

    We confirm what's in the box, identify the exact model and region where possible, update firmware and apps, and document fit, comfort, controls, and connectivity behavior.

  2. Measure objectively

    We capture repeatable measurements to quantify tuning, distortion, noise, isolation, and other performance traits that ears alone can misjudge.

  3. Listen critically

    We run structured listening across multiple genres and use-cases, looking for fatigue, clarity, dynamics, imaging, and annoying quirks.

  4. Score and publish

    We convert results into category scores, write a blunt verdict, list deal-breakers, and clearly separate what we measured from what we observed.

Equipment

We use a consistent measurement chain and logging templates so changes in results reflect the product—not random setup drift or today's settings.

Calibration

Before measurement sessions we verify the chain is behaving normally, re-check seals and positioning, and re-run spot checks to catch obvious anomalies.

Listening

We use level-matched comparisons when possible and repeat key passages to isolate differences in bass control, vocal intelligibility, treble harshness, and imaging.

Scoring

Each category score reflects both performance and practical penalties; a feature that exists but works poorly does not get full credit.

Updates

If a firmware or app update changes behavior, we re-test the impacted areas and note the change. For internal tracking we may use open-source graph tooling to map comparisons.
